If the attempt at revolution were to prove unsuccessful they would be convicted as traitors and treated as such. It was decision in which they laid their lives on the line. By their actions, they not only created what would be the greatest country on earth, but opened the door for democracies to sprout around the world. It marks a huge turning point in not only American history but world history as well. In remembrance each year we gather as families and communities in celebration. Barbecue grills flame broil juicy burgers and hot dogs while fireworks light up the night. Like everyone out there, the Fourth of July surely created some good childhood memories of mine. Needless to say some folks get a bit carried away each Fourth of July. Annually a good number of people wind up in the hospital due to the festivities. Most of us have probably had a little too much fun with fireworks at some point. That being said, some guys take it a little too far. Watch as this self-proclaimed redneck with a compound bow figures out the fuse on an artillery shell is shorter than expected. https://youtu.be/z6EGDepYp-0 If things go a bit differently in this video he'd be in the running for a Darwin Award for sure. Easy to learn from this guy's experience that fireworks and archery don't mix. In other words, don't try that at home. Hopefully your archery gear can wiggle its way into your Fourth of July celebration by way of a group shoot, 3-D competition, arial targets, or just some good old fashioned stump shooting. One of the greatest aspects of archery is you can easily include it in your family gatherings. Make it part of your celebration this year by getting the whole family, kids included, involved. There are a number of archery games you and your family can play to pass the time. This Fourth of July take some well deserved time off, enjoy your family, enjoy archery, and remember the monumental risk the founders of this nation took as they penned the historic Declaration of Independence. Stay safe and enjoy our democratic government in this crazy election year. Follow the author through his facebook page or on twitter. NEXT: FAMILY TIME; 4 ARCHERY GAMES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
