If you live in Connecticut and you have a passion for crossbows then you have something to rejoice about.
Crossbows are finally legal for the hunting season that just recently began this September. The deer and turkey now have something else that they have to look out for during this season. This can have many implications and one of the reasons that this change of heart came about was to help control these animals’ respective populations. It is also a great sign for anyone that is pro-hunting. There is never much pro-hunting legislation happens, so we have to rejoice every time something like this hits out news feed.
Everyone that is out hunting during these times does it for the same reasons. It is the thrill of the hunt and the peacefulness of nature. Connecticut
crossbow hunters can now head out and experience the same joys of hunting. The only stipulation for crossbow hunters is that they must now take a test course through the DEEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) so that they are certified to safely hunt. Once you are certified through DEEP, you are required to carry your permit around at all times. As with many other states, you are required to fill out a harvest tag for your kills.
Connecticut legislation has done a great service to the crossbow hunting community. They have opened the door for many potential hunters to enter the world of hunting that we all love. I am almost certain that there will be a surge in crossbow sales because of this recent victory. Many of the people who have been injured throughout the years because of repetitive vertical bow use, or just injuries in general will be able to go out and hunt again. The hunters that prefer to use a crossbow over a vertical bow, a gun, or any other weaponry can finally take their weapons out into the field. Another state has followed suit with the
crossbow trend; let us keep this going!
