I was thumbing through the channels on the television the other day when a show on the History Channel caught my attention. There were a couple of men dressed in head to toe camouflage that were hunting whitetails
in different backyards. These were not small backyards, but rather the huge suburban backyards in Connecticut. After some quick research, I came to find out that Connecticut has a huge problem with the amount of whitetails that inhabit that part of the country. These deer cause constant car accidents and are known to spread Lyme disease so the landowners need help controlling the population. This is where Mike Andronaco an
d his friends appear on
Chasing Tail
s. Mike and his friends set out to hunt these whitetails in Connecticut, but it is not as easy as it sounds. The reason that this is an entertaining show is because there is a very real culture clash between the hunters and the landowners. The hunters are asked by one landowner to hunt the groups of deer that have been giving them so much trouble. I can guarantee you that this is not as easy as it sounds. What happens when you shoot a deer with your
compound bow on one landowner’s property that you have permission to hunt on, but then it takes off running into the other property that you do not have permission to hunt?
I want to make sure to state that this show is mainly for entertainment purposes. This is not a “how to” guide or some type of documentary.
Chasing Tails is exactly what the name implies. It is a group of men that enjoy hunting, that are getting together with their bows to take care of a very real problem in Connecticut. I would also like to state that these guys are not paid more than some travel compensation (on occasion). They do it for the fun of hunting and being around each other. They also donate most of the meat to food shelters and churches. With that being said, it was still entertaining to see the shenanigans that this group of guys gets themselves into. Check your local listing to see when
Chasing Tails on the History Channel we be on in your part of the country.
