As crossbows and archery bows gain more recognition and notoriety among hunters and enthusiast alike, the laws and regulations for and against them has begun to catch notice. In this case the change has come in the state of New York. As crossbow hunting become ever more popular year after year laws and regulations surrounding them have become tighter and tighter. One such law that caught our attention is in the state of New York. New York has passed a law that will shake up the crossbow community in the state for years to come…or until the law is amended.
The new law is straight forward and reads as follows:
“Please note: the law allowing use of crossbows expired on December 31, 2012. Crossbows may no longer be used for hunting in New York.”
– New York State, Department of Environmental Conservation.
So, as you can see the
hunting crossbow is not outlawed all together in the state of New York, people may still own them.
