Thanksgiving meals. If you are a beginner when it comes to turkey hunting, you may not know how important a turkey hunting call is for attracting your potential meal. Even if you know the importance that a turkey call will have in your next hunt, will you know how to use it properly?

Using a hunting call is a great tool if you are just beginning to hunt turkeys. These calls work off friction and usually involve the user rubbing two pieces together. When the user rubs these pieces back and forth, they will create somewhat of a yelping sound. This yelping sound is important because it is one of the many calls that a turkey will use to signal to another turkey. If you hear a turkey, yelping it is either because it has become separated from the flock or because one turkey is trying to communicate with another turkey.

If you use your turkey box call properly then you will be able to make your prey think that there is more than one turkey. This is important because if you can mimic a conversation or make different noises with the same hunting call, the turkey will feel more at ease and become attracted to the sound. Practice will make perfect with the turkey box call. I would recommend that you get good at mimicking the calls that can be made with the box call and then move on to something that is a bit harder. Some stick with the box call forever, but I feel that you should try a slate call or a diaphragm hunting call if you are up to learning different techniques.
