Some may say that 2012 is the end of the world, but for others, 2012 is just the beginning, especially for crossbow enthusiasts who follow Horton Archery’s innovative releases year after year. This year, Horton unleashes two of its most advanced creations: the Havoc and the Fury.

Both crossbows are compact, and yet, both pack a lot of power. Both crossbow models have interchangeable recoil pads, which make handling and aiming extremely effortless. The Havoc is an improved version of an earlier
Horton crossbow, the Horton Vision, released in 2011. The Havoc sports Horton’s patented Reverse Draw Technology (RDT), which increased the power stroke to give arrows at high speed. Its computer numerical control (CNC) machine cams and specially crafted limbs also contribute to increased speed, shooting arrows up to 325 feet per second.
The Fury, on the other hand, is the bigger monster, both literally and figuratively. Still a compact
Horton crossbow, it measures only slightly bigger than the Havoc, coming in at 35 ¼” as opposed to the Havoc’s 34 ½”. But even with the same RDT mechanism on both crossbows, the little inches make a big difference, as the Fury can shoot arrows up to 360 feet per second. Another feature that differentiates the Fury from the Havoc is that it boasts of added stealth, by way of its Viper X strings with integrated stumper arms, which mutes the sound made by shooting the crossbow.
In addition to the speed and power that both compact crossbows offer, safety isn’t neglected at all. Both models are fitted with mechanisms that prevent dry-firing. While dry-firing essentially means shooting crossbows without arrows, it may still cause harm to the hunter or innocent bystanders, even without the arrows. Dry-firing also causes damage to the crossbow itself. But with the CNC Picatinny rail sight bridge that both models have, dry-firing incidents are easily prevented.
