TenPoint is one of the most respected names in the crossbow world. This year they released their top of the line bow the
Tenpoint Venom Extra at the ATA Shot show. If you are the type that wants only the absolute best, and nothing less, the Venom Extra has got to show up on your list of top bows for sure. There are several aspects of this bow that make it very attractive.

For starters in the area of performance the TenPoint Venom Extra is one of the most efficient hunting bows out there. The 185 pound draw weight combined with the smooth cams will zip your arrows downrange at an impressive 372 feet per second. Depending on the arrows you choose to use, this will give you over 110 foot pounds of kinetic energy when your arrow strikes the target. For those interested, you can see the 110 foot pounds will be more than
enough for any game you will likely be chasing.
Another aspect of the TenPoint Venom Extra that makes it one of the more attractive of the new crossbows of 2016 is the size of this compound crossbow. Weighing in at less than six and a half pounds, it is a very light and comfortable bow to pack around with you. In addition to weight, the compound design allows this bow to be very thin, measuring in at around 17.6 inches wide. Maybe size is not a priority for you in your hunting escapades, but often times it seems a few inches here or there can make all the difference in the world.
As mentioned earlier, the TenPoint Venom Extra is the flagship crossbow for TenPoint this year. That being said, they didn't skimp anywhere on this bow. One piece of extra equipment TenPoint made sure to include standard on every Venom is the TenPoint Rangemaster Pro Scope. This scope itself is a $300 value and features an variable speed and arrow drop compensation setting, so you won't have to worry about sighting this bow in.
Check out this video for more information on this quality scope.
Finally, the TenPoint Venom Extra integrates one of its cocking assist devices into every bow. The ACUdraw or ACUdraw 50 is integrated into the stock of these bows, so you won't have to worry about forgetting your rope cocker or having to deal with installing a cocking assist device on your own. Each system is helpful to get the crossbow cocked, and can make the chore much easier. These videos will demonstrate both the
ACUdraw and the
ACUdraw 50 cocking devices.
With a price tag of $2,499, the TenPoint Venom Extra won't be a possibility for every shooter out there. But, if you have the means, and nothing but the best will do, the Venom might just fit the bill and be worth a serious looking over.
