PSE has earned a reputation for producing high quality archery gear.[/caption]
PSE has always endeavored to provide quality archery gear to the public
since the 1970's. Their founder Pete Shipley has grown the company from its humble beginnings as a one man part-time business, to the super brand name it is today. Operating out of their manufacturing center in Tuscon, Arizona, today PSE employs over 300 people to design, manufacture, and ship archery gear around the country. As the company has grown they have never wavered from their goal to produce precision archery gear for archers of all levels. One of their newest products, the PSE Fang crossbow, is a step in that direction.

The PSE Fang Crossbow[/caption]
The PSE Fang crossbow is a
pretty blue collar crossbow from top to bottom. It wasn't designed to knock the socks off of all the other crossbows on the market. The specs on this crossbow ring of a solid crossbow though. The Fang seems to be addressing folks who need a crossbow that works, and works well.
When it comes to arrow speed, the PSE Fang shoots 'em downrange at a speed of 350 feet per second. 350 feet per second is still hauling the mail in my book, but compared to the fastest crossbows on the market it seems average. Don't let your mind be fooled by the comparison though, an average arrow moving 350 feet per second is packing plenty of punch for nearly any big game animal you will ever hunt. If you are a hunter but can't afford the top tier bows, the PSE surely would be an adequate hunting tool.
In the size department the PSE Fang runs down the middle of the road. It measures 19 1/4 inches from axle to axle, and 35 inches long. Compared to most other crossbows out there this bow is pretty much par for the course. On the scale this compound crossbow weighs in at 6.8 pounds. If you compare it to other crossbows out there, you'll it to be on the light side of average.
Don't be mislead by the average technical specs on this bow though. PSE makes precision archery equipment and you can expect any bow with their logo on it to come with the PSE standard of quality. They've decorated this bow with a number of quality accessories like quality string stops and a MR 4x32 scope. It also has some design features to improve the shoot-ability of the bow. First off the pistol grip is one aspect of the design some shooters feel offers more control. Second off the oversized flared finger guard helps to keep you safe during the shot. Thirdly, PSE has redesigned the stock of the Fang to better adjust the balance of the bow for a more comfortable and accurate shooting experience.
The final aspect of the PSE Fang worth discussing is the price tag. Ringing in at $349 for the crossbow and all the fixings to get you shooting day 1, its a price that's hard to beat. If you're looking to get a lot of bang for your buck it might fit the bill.
The PSE Fang is a solid crossbow for someone looking to get involved in shooting or who wants a crossbow that can fill the freezer. It is a highly functional bow that comes standard with the PSE logo. Given their long history and reputation, that stands for something.
