Selecting a Takedown Recurve Bow: Go I.L.F.

ilf take down recurve bow When you are in the market for your next takedown recurve bow I want you to take one thing into consideration. You should make sure that you are getting a bow that has ILF limbs. The reasoning for this is that it will keep your doors open if you ever feel the need to change out the limbs for any particular reason. Many companies that do not offer the ILF limbs usually make their own specific replacement limbs. What this means is that you are going to have to purchase any new limbs through them, and if they stop making limbs for that particular model, then you are out of luck. Do not get left out in the cold and make sure you get a takedown recurve bow that has these ILF limbs. ILF stands for International Limb Fixture (some places refer to it as International Limb Fitting) It was a system of interchangeable limbs and risers that was introduced by Earl Hoyt Jr. This means that you can use a whole slew of different risers with a whole bunch of different limbs. This allows you to change the poundage and length combinations to whatever setting you please. These fittings were initially made for target archery but have gained a substantial following among bow hunters who own takedown recurve bows. There are many upsides to owning a takedown recurve in general, but having the ILF limbs gives you even more flexibility. It is true that having a takedown allows you to change out the limbs on your bow when you feel it is necessary. Having the ILF fitting doubles, even triples, the options that are at your disposal. This will ensure that you are able to use your bow for many years to come, as opposed to being limited to however long the manufacturer chooses to produce the limbs.
